Counsel: ownership of portions of Corkscrew Road remains unclear; interagency study ongoing

District Counsel and staff summarized differing county and village positions on ownership and maintenance of segments of Corkscrew Road; Johnson Engineering will inspect streets and a Town Hall discussion is focusing on the U.S. 41 intersection and the east side of Corkscrew Road, with the study to include the west side as well.
District Counsel Tony Pires told the Board his opinion about ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) has not changed after retrieving documents. Counsel and the District Engineer reviewed county and village positions on maintenance responsibilities based on prior memoranda and documents.
Chair Schultz said the Village of Estero engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets, walkways and intersections to determine necessary repairs; PSGRC President Neil Collins updated the Board on Town Hall discussions focusing on the U.S. 41 intersection and the east side of Corkscrew Road. Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side as well. Counsel said he will forward Apple Signs contact information to Mrs. Adams.
