Elaine Maynard‑Adams was elected president of the New London Board of Education during the board's organizational meeting on Dec. 1, 2025, following a nomination and unanimous voice vote. The election concluded with a recorded unanimous vote of 7‑0 in favor of Maynard‑Adams.
Maynard‑Adams, who also called the meeting to order, framed the board's responsibility in remarks after her election and emphasized the district's constituency. She said, "we are here to advocate for 3,000 students and their families and approximately 750 employees." The board also elected Karen Bergin as Vice‑President and Scott Garbini as Secretary; voice votes for those offices were also unanimous, 7‑0.
