"You are leaving before I was done," the mayor said, noting a planned celebration on the 26th. Guzman thanked council and staff and reflected on his career, saying the work had always been a team effort: "I couldn't have done this without the fantastic leadership this city has had."
Family members joined Guzman at the microphone; he introduced his wife Suzanne and several grandchildren. Councilmembers emphasized his community volunteerism and mentorship. The mayor said the city will host a larger recognition event later this month.
