Darien District 61 Board renews three-year E-Learning resolution and approves MOU for 2025–26

The Darien District 61 Board of Education on Nov. 18 voted to adopt a three-year renewal of its E-Learning program in lieu of scheduled emergency days and approved a related 2025–26 memorandum of understanding.
“Every 3 years the district has to renew the D61 E-Learning days; this information was previously discussed with the teacher association,” the board recorded during the public hearing and subsequent motion to adopt. Board President Karen Buckels moved to open the public hearing; the hearing was closed and the items returned to the regular meeting before the motions were carried by roll call. The roll-call results recorded Ayes from Board Members Pavlu, Ramos, Ceferin, Fujiura, Buckels and Renell; Mr. Myers was absent and no members voted nay.
Board members said the renewal had been previously discussed with the district’s teachers. The board also approved the district’s E-Learning Memorandum of Understanding for the 2025–26 school year by roll call vote with the same recorded outcome. The motions carry forward the district’s approach to using E-Learning days in place of emergency make-up days under state guidelines for the next three years.
