Darien District 61 board adopts FY26 budget after public hearing

The Darien Public Schools District #61 Board of Education on Sept. 23 adopted its FY26 budget following a public hearing and a presentation by the district business official.
Board member Allyson Renell moved to open the public hearing, seconded by Anthony Ramos. Mr. Frank Brendlinger told the Board that "a copy of the proposed FY26 Budget has been available to the public since July 22, 2025," and that no requests or questions had been received in the business office. Brendlinger summarized revenue sources, expense categories and operating expenditures per pupil and recommended the Board adopt the budget.
After closing the public hearing (motion by Dana Pavlu, seconded by Katherine Fujiura), the Board moved to adopt the FY26 Budget (motion by Anthony Ramos; seconded by Allyson Renell). The roll-call vote recorded all members voting aye and "Motion Carried." The record shows no recorded nay votes.
The district did not record any public objections or requested changes during the business-office review period, according to the presentation. The adoption completes the standard annual budget process for the school year beginning in FY26.
