Design substantially complete for Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center, construction underway
Summary
District construction consultant reported that the Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center design is substantially complete, bid awards executed in March, groundbreaking held March 20, abatement and foundation demolition completed, and construction began late March 2026.
Gabriel Alvarez of CCS International told the board on April 23 that the Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center building design is substantially complete and that furniture, fixtures and equipment design is in progress. Bid award recommendations and contracts were executed in March and a groundbreaking ceremony occurred March 20; construction work began in late March and is ongoing as of April 2026.
Alvarez also reported that abatement and demolition of the existing building foundation were completed in March 2026. The district’s capital planning report listed additional projects in progress such as the West 23rd parcel parking lot (geotechnical studies underway), HVAC work at Sherlock and Unity schools, Lincoln fire remediation, administration building crack monitoring, and ongoing FY26–27 capital planning discussions.
Board members asked no substantive follow‑up during the construction presentation; Alvarez invited questions and none were recorded in the minutes.
