Komarek to consider WozEd K–8 STEM curriculum; training cost under $45,000 covered by Title I carryover

The Komarek School District 94 administration plans to ask the board in June to approve a new K–8 STEM curriculum from WozEd.
Mrs. Suzy Stevens said the curriculum outlines grade‑by‑grade project work — 2nd grade "Growing Coding," 3rd grade "Exploring Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)," 4th grade "Discovering animation," 5th grade "3D Printing: Design, Print, and Unlock Imagination," 6th grade "Designing Robots — Programming Purposeful Robots," 7th grade "Animation Station," and 8th grade "3D Printing: A Pathway to Purposeful Printing." Stevens said Dr. Fitzgerald and the district STEM teacher, Ms. Carpen, visited Berwyn North School District 98 to observe the curriculum in practice and that feedback from Berwyn North, which has used WozEd since 2021, was positive.
Stevens told the board the "total cost for training and curriculum resources is just under $45,000 and it is being paid for with Title I funds provided by the federal government." The board will consider formal approval at its June meeting.
