Jacksonville SD 117 reports spike in sales-tax receipts, breaks ground on Vision 117 Phase IV

CFO Rick Cunningham and Superintendent Steve Ptacek told the Jacksonville School District #117 board on Jan. 21 that the district’s revenue trackers show improving sales-tax receipts and modest PPRT gains. Ptacek cited a monthly sales-tax increase of $50,144.67 and a running total for the year of $322,280.06 compared with last year’s $110,610.99.
"Sales Tax Tracker—Mr. Ptacek reported an increase in sales again for the month of September of $50,144.67. That is a running total for the year of $322,280.06. Last year's entire running total was $110,610.99," the minutes state. The packet also showed a PPRT increase of $28,824.74 year over year.
Ptacek said the trends mirror typical seasonal and cyclical patterns, and he noted the district will begin construction work at Murrayville/Woodson Elementary School as part of Vision 117 Phase IV. The finance reports in the board packet indicate the district is roughly 50% through its fiscal year; the operating-fund totals provided in the packet show a year-over-year decrease in total operating funds, with numeric tables included in the materials.
