Illini Central board reviews midyear finances, directs superintendent to prepare tentative FY27 budget

The Illini Central CUSD 189 Board of Education on Jan. 15 received a midyear financial update and approved the district’s January bills.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Durbin reviewed the Revenue & Expense Report, which she said reflects the district’s finances roughly halfway through the fiscal year. Board member Dennis Hull moved, Nancy Robertson seconded, to approve the bills for January 2026; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all seven board members recorded as voting aye (Boyd, Bradshaw, Hughes, Hull, Lemme, Renken, Robertson).
Separately, the board approved consent agenda language directing the superintendent to prepare a tentative FY27 budget for the board’s consideration. The consent motion carried on a 7-0 voice vote. The district will present the tentative FY27 budget at a future meeting as the board proceeds through its budget calendar.
