The Gavin School Board voted May 20 to approve a reciprocal reporting agreement (MOU) with the Lake County Sheriff's Office intended to improve communication and information-sharing related to school safety. Superintendent Dr. Scott Schwartz explained the agreement is a countywide MOU among Lake County schools and the Sheriff's Office that ‘‘enhances the district's ability to communicate and share information with law enforcement when necessary, overcoming typical confidentiality barriers.’’
Ms. Meyer moved and Mrs. Bloniarczyk seconded the motion to approve the agreement; the roll call recorded five ayes and two absences and the motion carried. The meeting record does not specify operational protocols or data-sharing details; those are expected to be handled under the terms of the MOU and any applicable privacy law.
