Dr. Douglas Wildes presented a financial comparison of athletic trainer services, reporting the district spent just under $142,000 for contracted services through Go For Health in Fiscal Year 2024–25 and budgeted about $150,000 for the current year.
"Hiring an in-house athletic trainer, including salary and benefits, is estimated to cost approximately $90,000, resulting in a projected savings of roughly $60,000 annually for the District," Dr. Wildes said. Board members expressed support for exploring the in-house option as a cost-saving measure while maintaining services for student-athletes; further analysis on staffing, job description and operational implications was requested.
