The Board of Education for Komarek School District 94 on June 9 voted unanimously to purchase and adopt a 2nd–8th grade STEM curriculum from WOZED, with a stated cost limit of "$45,000." President Chris Waas moved the motion and it carried 7–0.
The adoption follows the district—s curriculum calendar presented by board member Willie Merrill, which lists STEM for implementation in 2027 and subsequent subject adoptions through 2032. "Dr. Fitzgerald is asking the board to approve the adoption of STEM resources for the 2027 school year at our meeting this evening," Merrill told trustees during the education update. The board recorded the motion adopting WOZED's materials later in the meeting with the explicit cap, "THE COST IS NOT TO EXCEED $45,000."
