Board hears TAG program presentation: 113 students in grades 2–5

The board heard a slide presentation on the district's TAG (Talented and Gifted) program showing the scope of services and student projects conducted this school year.
Presenters Andrea Rulevish, Karla Rutherford and Amanda Coleman told the board, "There is a total of 113 students served in the TAG program for grades 2-5." The presentation detailed enrollment by building: 23 students at the Primary Center, 37 at J.L. Buford (receiving 150 minutes per week), and 53 at Casey Middle School (meeting weekly for 70 minutes). Examples of student activities included research projects, science experiments, a Family Game Night, 3D-printer projects and Black History Month projects.
The presenters noted that TAG students participate in WISH, a venue to showcase projects including science, inventions, history and writing. The board received the report; the presenters left the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
