The Fenton CHSD 100 Board on March 25 approved the FY2026 purchase of Cisco Catalyst switches and related support subscriptions for $189,382, part of a scheduled network‑equipment refresh. Administration said approximately 85% of the cost is expected to be reimbursed through the E‑rate program in FY2027.
District IT staff warned that delaying the refresh would increase cybersecurity and performance risks. "Outdated equipment poses significant cybersecurity risks," the IT representative said, noting a typical lifecycle of seven to ten years for such hardware. Member Dr. Christopher McCullough said he could not support additional spending without a more detailed long‑term financial plan; the motion passed with McCullough voting Nay.
