Board hears curriculum, testing and technology updates; grading policy review to return for vote next month

At the Feb. 25 meeting the superintendent and principals provided several administrative updates on curriculum, testing and technology budgeting.
Dr. Tom Lind updated the board on the Life Safety Report submission and said he is "suggesting a Committee of the Whole meeting" to review state approval progress; Ms. Andrews from Wold advised the board about the length of the state approval process. Dr. Patrick Enright reported on literacy-team work and the district's professional-development process for teachers who need credits to renew their license. Principals reported building-level preparation for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) testing next month; SGE Principal Mr. Pittman reported that 59% of SGE students are testing at or above grade level in reading and 81% are at or above grade level in math.
BP (Board President) Joe Quinn told the board that the Curriculum Committee will continue to review the 70/30 grading policy for Nippersink Middle School and that the board will vote on the policy at next month’s meeting.
