David Lumley of Gilbane, the construction manager, told the board the Wayne Thomas package included 27 bid packages and that "the bid packages totaled $16,633,798, approximately $700,000 over previous estimates but within a 2.5% range considered reasonable by industry standards." Lumley said electrical and plumbing work are trending higher across the construction industry and that owner soft costs were reduced to help offset increases.
The board approved the detailed list of trade contractors and award amounts by roll-call vote (Butler, Fink, Fishman, Hirsh, Itkin, Kessler, Lasko). Major line items included roofing (Anthony Roofing, $3,528,400) and electrical/fire-alarm/LV work (Kelso-Burnett, $3,969,988). The Braeside fencing award went to Action Fence Contractors, Inc. for $72,450.
The approval authorizes Gilbane and district staff to proceed with contracts and the next steps in project delivery; board members did not request further study or amendments to the award list during the meeting. The projects are part of ongoing facility upgrades discussed in prior board sessions.
