District to provide free summer breakfasts under federal Seamless Summer Option

Mr. Jeremy Davis recommended that the district participate in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) to provide free breakfast to students and others 18 years of age or less during summer school at Northwood and Ravinia. "The SSO is a federal program and is cost‑neutral to the District," Mr. Davis said, describing service windows: Northwood ESY (June 22–July 16, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) and Ravinia (June 15–July 16, 8:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.).
Board members voted unanimously to approve participation after Mr. Fishman moved and Mr. Lasko seconded. Administration described the program as essential and beneficial to students; no district cost was budgeted because the SSO is cost‑neutral under federal rules.
