Board approves resolution to include Priority 3 items in Health Life Safety bond application

Board President Joe Quinn opened a public hearing at 7:28 p.m. to seek approval for inclusion of Priority 3 items in the district's Health Life Safety bond application. "Nippersink School District 2 is requesting approval to include itemized Priority 3 Health Life Safety items in the application, along with Priority 1 and Priority 2 Health Life Safety items, being submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education," Quinn said.
Following the hearing — at which no public comment was recorded — the board moved to formal action. Motion by Board Member Mailfald, seconded by Board Member Schwartz, carried on a roll call vote with Ayes: Mailfald, Schwartz, Casey, Schufelt, Johnson, Stansbury and Quinn; Nays: None. The minutes record: "Motion Carried: 7 – 0." The resolution authorizes the district to seek Health Life Safety bonds that can include Priority 3 repairs to school grounds in addition to Priority 1 and 2 items as part of the application to the Illinois State Board of Education.
The board and Buildings & Grounds committee indicated next steps will include scheduling a Committee of the Whole presentation on the process and scope of work and developing community communications regarding potential projects and timelines.
