Rankin board schedules June 22 public hearing to amend FY26 budget

At its March 23 meeting, the Rankin School District #98 Board of Education voted to hold a public hearing to amend the 2025–26 (FY26) budget on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the district meeting room. The motion, made by Member Webb and seconded by Member Bacon, passed on a roll-call vote recorded in the minutes as all voting "Yea" (5–0).
The minutes do not include the proposed amendment language or dollar amounts. Dr. Matt Gordon had previously told the board he expects deficit spending for the fiscal year but expressed hope the amended budget in June will show a smaller deficit than the budget adopted in September. The administration will present detailed amendment materials at or before the public hearing.
