Town Manager Rob Gaiotti said the proposed budget represents roughly a 7% spending increase and includes funds to augment a grant to replace the Lower Hollow Road bridge. He explained a $1.3 million FEMA expense in the FY25 budget reflected a FEMA buyout of the Chantecleer property and that the funding is received across two fiscal years.
Gaiotti said anticipated changes to the grand list could translate to a 4–6% increase in town taxes if assessed as projected. The Board closed the hearing and voted to approve the FY27 budget for Town Meeting with a recorded vote of 4-0.
What residents should know: the budget funds infrastructure priorities including bridge work; staff indicated bridge work on Lower Hollow Road is anticipated either in early spring or late summer 2026 and impacted owners will receive notice prior to work.
