Superintendent Dr. Woods told the board that administration is reviewing enrollment, staffing and programs to identify areas where staffing and program reductions can occur "without significantly and negatively impacting teaching and learning."
He said some staffing reductions will result from resignations while others would require a formal reduction-in-force process. "The process for reduction in force is different for different employee groups, and any staffing reductions will follow relevant law and collective bargaining agreements," Dr. Woods said. He told the board he will present administrative recommendations for cost reductions at the next meeting.
Board members did not vote on staffing changes at the Jan. 15 meeting; Dr. Woods framed the discussion as an early-stage review of options tied to enrollment and program needs.
