On a motion by Member Cox and second by Member Helfers, the Rankin Board approved first reading/adoption of the Student Handbook for the 2026–27 school year.
Dr. Gordon and the Parent-Teacher Advisory committee had recommended several clarifications that the board endorsed, including attendance policy adjustments, removing art as a required course for 8th graders, adding guidance for use of artificial intelligence, and clarifying when a doctor's note is required to excuse P.E. participation. The roll-call vote was 6–0.
