Caius Jennison of the Farnsworth Group presented four design options for the district's 2027 track project: Option 1 (an eight-lane straightaway to the east), Option 2 (a full eight-lane track requiring alteration of the Panther Plex deck), Option 3 (full eight lanes with a southern expansion and retaining wall) and Option 4 (a full nine-lane track with expansion to the southeast). Jennison described an alternate approach, "1b," that would allow the district to build the 8-lane straightaway now and add two additional lanes later.
Facilities committee members asked Farnsworth to design Option 1 with Option 1b as an alternate so bids can include both scopes and pricing, enabling comparison of immediate versus phased expansion costs. The minutes record the committee's request to obtain pricing for both the base Option 1 and the alternate 1b; no formal vote on a preferred option is recorded in these minutes.
