Students present $800 to Warm Coats for Cool Kids; district recognizes community partners

The board recognized community partners and students for recent charitable work during the Dec. 18 meeting. Dr. Burnett recognized Garry Vaccaro from Warm Coats for Cool Kids, noting he "has given over 75 coats to our D48 students," and students Kristina White, Mia Liotta, Ellie Coffman and Audrey Dickens were acknowledged for raising $800 through lemonade stands and presenting a check to Vaccaro.
District social workers Grayson Breen and Ketzally Gomez were also recognized for coordinating the coat and shoe drives with the Rotary. During the second public-comment period, Nicole Williams praised the district for recognizing students’ contributions to the Warm Coats for Cool Kids effort.
