Court amends county drainage master plan, adds North Grove Creek and study reaches for FEMA mapping

Ellis County approved a contract amendment (approximately $232,000) to expand its drainage master plan study to include North Grove Creek and add detailed reaches in South Prong to revise FEMA mapping from an unstudied Zone A to studied Zone AE.
County Engineer Zach Garrick asked the court to amend the existing drainage master plan to expand the study area to North Grove Creek and add 18 reaches along South Prong, converting areas from unstudied FEMA Zone A to a studied Zone AE. Garrick said the additional work would cost about $232,000 and that the county has remaining budget in the existing project to cover the amendment.
Commissioners approved the amendment unanimously. Garrick said the contract amendment will be submitted by the county’s consultant and that the county will receive final survey drawings after construction. The study extension is intended to improve floodplain mapping and inform future road and development planning in affected basins.
