Dr. Kristine Seifert, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, presented a recommendation to change the district K–5 model from take-home devices to a stay-at-school deployment.
Dr. Seifert said the change is intended to better align technology use with instructional goals and with concerns for student mental and physical wellbeing; the administration recommended purchasing 34 pre-wired, smart-charging Chromebook carts from FORTE at a total cost of $75,548. The board did not vote on the purchase at this meeting; administration will place the item on the May 5 consent agenda for formal approval.
