Training bureau submits Fire Officer III curriculum for national accreditation; NVIMPACT testing numbers released

Rich McKnight, Bureau Chief for the Training Bureau at the State Fire Marshal Division, told the board that the bureau is “almost fully staffed,” naming two recent hires: Kerry Mackey (Las Vegas) and Adam Rowley (Carson City). He said the bureau submitted the Fire Officer III curriculum to IFSAC for accreditation and called national recognition "a huge benefit for the Fire Officers in our state."
McKnight reported NVIMPACT testing and training statistics for fiscal-year 2026 third quarter: 439 written tests administered with 355 individuals passing; 40 skills tests administered with a 100% pass rate; 67 HMA written tests administered with 57 passing; 63 HMO written tests administered with 49 passing; and HMA/HMO skills tests showed a 100% pass rate. He also listed recent classes (NFA ISO, Fire Service Instructor I, Hazardous Materials Incident Command, Fire Officer II) and upcoming Proctor/Evaluator and Incident Safety Officer courses.
