Fire Chiefs' Association wins $399,000 BLM grant; releases 'Fire Chief 101' draft

Kelli Baratti told the board that the Nevada Fire Chiefs' Association recently received a grant from the Bureau of Land Management worth "$399,000 and funded 6 projects around the state." She said the funding has been put to work on six projects and that members are pleased with progress.
Baratti said three board members collaborated on an outline for a "Fire Chief 101" handbook to guide chiefs on statutory authorities, budget processes, administrative steps and mutual aid agreements; a draft will be posted on the association website for review. She also said homeowners'related issues will be the association's top advocacy item ahead of the next legislative session.
