Winfield SD 34 approves routine minutes, fees, hires and primary roof replacement

At its Feb. 26 meeting the Winfield School District 34 Board of Education approved a series of routine and operational items by roll-call vote.
Among the motions passed: approval of the Feb. 26 meeting agenda earlier in the meeting; approval of prior meeting minutes (Jan. 29 regular and closed; Feb. 18 special and closed); and approval of the consent agenda covering finance reports (bill lists and treasurer/fund-balance reconciliation). In old-business votes the board approved 2026-27 registration fees, sports and activity fees, and building-usage fees. The board also approved a $5,900 professional-learning purchase from Braintracks for executive-function training.
Personnel-related approvals included changing Yessenia Esquivel from 0.5 to 1.0 FTE paraprofessional and hiring Evangelia Vogiatzi as a 0.5 FTE art teacher for 2026-27 at an annual rate of $31,242.97; MaryAnn Gonzales-Trevino was approved as the chess club sponsor for 2025-26 at a $390 stipend. For facilities and contracts, the board approved Weed Man for seasonal landscape care and Noah's Roofing L.L.C. for replacement of the Primary School roof. All motions recorded in open session passed by roll-call votes with the five present trustees voting yea and two trustees absent.
