Kaufman County auditor presents clean FY2025 opinion; no audit findings

Travis of Patillo, Brown & Nehal presented Kaufman County's FY2025 independent audit and told the Commissioner's Court the firm issued an unmodified, or "clean," opinion on the county's financial statements. He reported unmodified opinions on both the financial statements and the federal/state single audits and said no noncompliance or government-auditing-standards findings were noted.
"In our opinion, the accompanying financial statements present fairly in all material respects the financial position," Travis said, summarizing the auditors' opinion. He highlighted that the general fund added about $3,900,000 and the general road and bridge fund added about $5,400,000 to ending fund balances for FY2025. The presentation also outlined that the county's fund balances and internal controls resulted in no reportable findings under the audits.
Commissioners thanked county staff for the work that supported the audit. The court voted to accept the audit report. The auditors provided the annual financial report, the single audit report and communication with governance to the court for the record.
