County to accept $315,000 from Crandall EDC and hire HDR for FM 741/US 175 bridge engineering

Kaufman County Commissioners authorized an interlocal cooperation agreement (ICA) to receive $315,000 from the Crandall Economic Development Corporation to help fund engineering design for the FM 741 at US 175 bridge project and approved a professional services agreement with HDR for $1,341,918 to prepare plans, specifications and estimates.
Brenda, who said she coordinates Kaufman County projects with ITS, explained that the Crandall EDC agreed to contribute $315,000 toward the HDR contract so the county could complete engineering design. "They are willing to contribute $315,000 towards the HDR contract," Brenda said. She told the court the county will use the EDC funds together with bond funds to execute HDR's contract and seek TEXO consideration in about eight months.
Brenda also said the project is expected to require minimal environmental documentation because work remains in existing right-of-way, and that the county expects to move directly into PS&E. The court approved both the ICA to accept the EDC funds and the HDR professional services agreement by voice votes.
The approvals position the county to complete engineering for the FM 741/US 175 bridge, after which officials said they will seek construction funding next year.
