Robert Hunter, who was introduced to the court as the veterans services representative, asked the commissioners to move $1,000 from his office's training and conference line into the travel budget so two staffers can attend training this year. "This year, we're only asking that, we're not asking for any additional monies whatsoever," Hunter said, adding that the transfer would let two employees attend conferences or separate trainings without increasing county spending.
Hunter said the office typically receives free conference attendance through TVC but that this year he paid to take Belinda to a training and needed funds moved to cover lodging and mileage. He told the court the transfer is intended to be permanent but would preserve some training funds for online continuing education if TVC does not provide a conference. The court discussed comp-time liability and asked staff to monitor accruals in veteran services and other offices.
