Commissioners approve reverting County Road 4066 and portion of 4072 from chipseal to rock ahead of construction traffic

Commissioner Moore explained that the chipseal surface on County Road 4066 (and part of 4072) had deteriorated and that heavy construction equipment associated with a potential wetlands project could quickly ruin a newly repaired chipseal surface. "Before I put a lot of money into a road that's gonna be destroyed, I'd rather take it back to rock now until that project either happens or don't happen, and then I can go back and re chip," Moore said.
Moore asked the court for permission to change the road surface classification back to rock so repairs would be easier if heavy equipment uses the route; commissioners discussed the possibility that project partners may help rebuild the road later. The court approved the requested surface change by motion.
Moore said he had not reached any final funding agreement with the prospective project proponents but pushed for the surface change to avoid repeated expense if construction equipment uses the road.
