Court approves ADA self-evaluation and transition plan required for TxDOT subrecipients

Shelley Tackett presented Kaufman County’s Americans with Disabilities Act self-evaluation and transition plan and asked the commissioners to approve the documents. "The self evaluation plan is basically, the county's program services and facilities and websites," Tackett said, adding that the transition plan outlines steps the county will take to remove barriers.
Tackett said the work was prepared with assistance from the district attorney’s office and county facilities staff and noted the plans are required because the county is a TxDOT subrecipient for future funding. The court voted to approve the self-evaluation and transition plan by motion.
The approval allows county staff to proceed with the scheduled steps in the transition plan and positions the county to remain eligible for relevant TxDOT program funding, staff said. The court did not attach additional conditions to the approval during the meeting.
