Public officer gives owner 120 days to repair deteriorated house at 1619 Sturchi Street

Owner Michael Eskew spoke for the property and said the house is vacant but that financing is in process: "Process is being approved for a loan. Get the work done on the property," he said, and confirmed the property is vacant. Staff told the hearing the 120-day period was intended to give the owner sufficient time to obtain permits and begin work; Bradshaw said the deadline could be extended if substantial progress is shown.
In response to pictured conditions, Eskew suggested some of the photos may have been taken from a neighbor’s property but acknowledged the structure needs repair and that he is pursuing funding. The public officer found the structure out of compliance with city codes and ordered repair or demolition within 120 days; failure to act could lead to placarding, city-initiated corrective action and a lien for costs.
