The superintendent briefed the board on several items tied to the district's draft strategic plan, including cooperative planning for special-education services and progress on the assistant-superintendent search.
He said Heather Seybold had visited Delaware Community Schools to discuss special-education programming and potential cooperative arrangements, and he noted the district plans to house a new behavior specialist primarily at Pleasant View beginning in 2627 to support student needs.
On staffing, the superintendent said the assistant-superintendent search attracted "20 applicants for our assistant superintendent position, and we're actually in the midst of interviewing in the 1st round, 7 of those candidates." Board members were told they will be invited to provide input before a final selection is made.
Board members also discussed enrollment-planning metrics and capacity assumptions that feed into the strategic plan.
