District outlines summer programs, book fair, community clean-up and staff appreciation week
Summary
District staff told the board they are planning K–12 summer programming (K–5 camp "Unearth a Story" with about 40 sign-ups), a community clean-up on April 22, a book fair May 4–9 and staff appreciation May 4–8; transportation training and ALICE training were also discussed.
During district reports Mrs. Gavenda told the board the district is working on summer school plans K–12, including a kindergarten–fifth-grade camp titled "Unearth a Story" that had 40 children signed up at the time of the meeting. She also listed upcoming events: community clean-up day April 22, book fair May 4–9, FFA plant sale and sausage biscuits on May 9, staff appreciation week May 4–8, and staff professional development April 29.
Mrs. Gavenda reported transportation staffing updates — one candidate is in training and approaching the state test — and said the district had been approached about hosting ALICE safety training this summer and was exploring dates and partners. She also noted painting projects were tentatively scheduled for June 1–11 pending volunteer support and paint decisions.
