Bridgman board adopts new grades 5–12 ELA curriculum for $154,648.27

The Bridgman Public Schools Board of Education on April 27 approved a new grades 5–12 English Language Arts curriculum and authorized $154,648.27 for the adoption. The adoption was approved by motion of Member Wayne Hall, supported by Nancy Hawley, and carried 6–0.
Principal John Truesdell and the RMS/BHS ELA curriculum team presented the proposal, saying the review began in the fall and included teacher vetting, instructional council review and parental input. The board was told the adoption spans six years and aligns with the state Dyslexia Law; the middle school (RMS) selected My Perspective/My View while BHS will continue with SAVVAS/My Perspective.
Board members who moved and supported the motion recorded that the district will proceed with purchasing the recommended materials and implementing the curriculum across grades 5 through 12 during the approved term. The motion carried 6–0; the board also recorded March bills and approved related consent items earlier in the meeting.
