The Lake Shore Board of Education conditionally approved two student travel requests at its May 18 meeting. The LSHS JV Cheer Team received conditional approval for an overnight trip to Alma, Michigan for cheer camp from July 17–19, 2026; the motion was made by Susan DeLong, seconded by Kenneth Gulock, and passed 7–0. President Kurt Ziegler asked whether the approval applied to the varsity team and Rachelle Stephenson replied, "it was the JV team."
The board also conditionally approved an out-of-state trip for LSHS Media Productions to attend the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Competition in Atlanta, Georgia from June 1–6, 2026. The motion was made by Susan DeLong and seconded by Kenneth Gulock; Rachelle Stephenson said the trip was "the second or third" time the program has participated. Both trip approvals were recorded as conditional, subject to the district’s trip policies and final confirmations.
