The Lake Shore Board of Education unanimously accepted a donation of a baby grand piano from alumna Carol Carroll during its May 18 regular meeting. The motion to accept the piano was made by Susan DeLong and seconded by Elizabeth Munger; the vote was 7–0.
Carol Carroll, a 1953 Lake Shore High School alumna and relative of district staff and past board members, honored the board by playing "It's a Wonderful World" after the formal acceptance. Superintendent Dr. DiPonio presented Carroll with district swag and a 1953 Lake Shore High School yearbook in recognition of the gift.
The recognition portion of the meeting also honored several retirees for their service. Rob Couck, identified as LSFT president, thanked the retirees and Dr. DiPonio described retirees as defining "what it means to be the Shorian family." Board members offered personal congratulations and reflections on the retirees’ impact on students.
