ISD seeks renewal of 0.9-mill enhancement; district stands to receive about $2.9 million annually

Kyle Frey said polling from an informational campaign showed roughly 70% 'yes or likely yes' responses and explained the mechanics: "This enhancement millage was for 0.9 mills which is 90¢ for $1,000 of taxable value." Dr. Gorman highlighted the local impact, telling the board, "That is the amount that Forest Hills Public Schools receives every single year from the enhancement millage" (approximately $2,900,000). Presenters noted charter-school inclusion (per recent legislation) will slightly reduce district per-pupil proceeds and that Kent ISD will cover election costs.
Board members asked timing and implementation questions; presenters urged action soon because other districts are pursuing bonds and millages and because placing the renewal in 2025 helps keep focus on school funding rather than a crowded 2026 ballot. The ISD representatives said they had completed a resolution and would forward it to the district for consideration at a subsequent board meeting.
