Legislature nominates three candidates to Jackson County Sports Complex Authority

The Jackson County Legislature on July 6 moved and approved nominations of three applicants to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority and sent their names to the governor for consideration.
Dr. Michael Macias introduced himself to the body and noted his background in executive leadership; he told legislators he has a PhD in executive leadership from University of Charleston School of Business. Robert Hepting described himself as a lifelong Jackson County resident with finance and oversight experience and said he wants to help secure the county's interests in future stadium/lease matters. Brian Burns was noted as an applicant but recorded as out of town and not present for the interview.
Legislator McGee moved to nominate Michael Macias, Robert Hepting and Brian Burns. The nomination roll call was recorded as eight yes and one abstention on the nomination count; the subsequent resolution adopting the slate and sending the names to the governor passed on a roll call of nine yes. The governor makes the final appointment under state procedure.
