Board highlights student performances, athletics and foundation events

Student representatives and board members used the standing-items portion of the agenda to highlight recent student achievements and foundation activities.
Ashley Geib and Brielle Starks reported that the high school's Rock of Ages production will advance to the state level and that students are preparing for a Frozen production in May; winterguard and cheer squads had recent competition wins and the cheer team qualified for regionals. Susan DeLong congratulated bowling teams and noted regional victories by a margin of 319 pins; she also gave a "shout out to Jim DeLong for his 100th win as a coach." The superintendent and board members also recognized Outstanding CTE Senior Abigail Smith and thanked the Lake Shore Foundation for Educational Excellence for fundraising events including an egg dive, egg yard and a June golf outing.
Board members encouraged continued community support for extracurricular programs and noted recent grant support for LSHS programs including MiCI and the esports team.
