Lake Shore board approves $213,487 technology refresh for laptops, desktops and Chromebooks

The Lake Shore Board of Education on March 23 approved a technology-device refresh, authorizing the purchase of laptops, desktops and Chromebooks from People Driven Technology, using REMC consortium pricing, in an amount not to exceed $213,487.36. The motion was made by Susan DeLong and seconded by Kenneth Gulock and passed unanimously with one absence.
President Kurt Ziegler explained the board accelerated the purchase to avoid expected price increases. During the discussion Kenneth Gulock asked about disposition of the district’s old devices; Shelly Larsen responded that the devices would be used for spares and parts. Board materials noted Lake Shore High School and Kennedy Middle School machines are at end of life, prompting the refresh.
