Mendon honors student academic-athletic achievements and reports community events

Board heard that volleyball and football teams earned Team Academic All-State honors, multiple student athletes received Individual Academic All-State/distinctions, and the district served 6,970 SFSP meals over the summer.
During the athletic and building reports, administrators highlighted student achievements and community events. Glen Samson reported that the volleyball and football teams earned Team Academic All-State honors and that Owen Gorham was named Individual Academic All-State for football. Volleyball players named Individual Academic All-State included Cienna Nightingale, Jadyn Samson and Gracie Schultz; other All-State recognitions were listed in the minutes. Samson also noted that winter sports have begun.
Elementary and middle/high school staff reported attendance at community events: Angie Spence said Grateful for Grandparents Day drew more than 200 attendees; Bobby Kretschman said the Senior Citizen Luncheon had over 55 in attendance and thanked staff, NHS students, band and kitchen staff. Superintendent Griffith-Mathews read an SFSP email noting the district served 6,970 meals to Michigan students this past summer.
Administrators thanked staff members (including Mr. Adkins) and volunteer or donor support, including a $1,000 donation from a Secret Santa used for student prizes and gift cards.
