The New Buffalo Area Schools Board of Education voted May 27 to approve multiple personnel actions, including the recommendation to hire Emily Zablocki-Kohler as high school principal pending a background check.
Superintendent Adam Bowen brought the recommendation; the motion to approve Zablocki-Kohler was recorded as moved by Lisa Werner and seconded by Vanessa Thun and carried with 'All ayes, motion carried.' The board also approved the hiring of Daniel Svoboda as a special education teacher after a recommendation from the superintendent and the middle school principal (motion: Stephen Donnelly; second: Jennifer Summers). Both hires were listed as pending completion of background checks.
The board approved administrative contracts for Daniel Caudle, Melissa Lijewski and Samuel Stine, and adopted the 2026–2027 work agreements.
