District seeks to finish PA hardware and expand mass-notification capabilities; staff outlines integration possibilities

Dave (speaker S5) reviewed the district’s mass-notification work tied to prior bond activity and said three buildings remain without the Valcom PA hardware needed as a foundation for districtwide mass-notification modules. He provided a high-level cost guideline based on past bids and said staff has requested updated quotes from five vendors; previous bid packages were done by AMCOM, CRT and RedLetter for different sets of buildings, and Dave said he will provide a more detailed accounting to the board.
Dave explained that once all buildings have the trunk/PA hardware in place, the district could add modules that trigger integrated responses—doors locking, text notifications, lights flashing or message pushes—when a mass-notification event occurs, and that FEMA and other external alerts could be integrated if the board wanted that capability. Board members emphasized retaining human oversight and requested a report on the frequency and type of past secure-mode/lockdown events to guide future choices.
