Board hears examples of misrouted students as staff outlines badge boarding and Kickboard discipline logging
Summary
Transportation staff described repeated instances of students put on wrong buses and said parent-text alerts and badge boarding would show instantly which bus a child boarded; staff also said bus incident logging is moving from Google forms toward Kickboard so referrals flow to school administrators for investigation.

Patty (transportation staff) told the board the district regularly receives calls from parents worried their child is missing after being put on the wrong bus; she said a parent-alert feature and boarded/exited confirmations would cut response time. “They can get a notice that their bus is 5 minutes away from their stop,” Patty said, and later summarized how boarding badges or driver-tapped confirmation would mark students as on or off the bus.
Staff also explained that bus incident reports have historically been captured on paper or Google forms and were not consistently ingested into PowerSchool; the district is shifting bus referrals into Kickboard so schools receive standardized reports and can investigate, review video or interview students as needed. Board members asked about training, rater reliability and who would be responsible for entering and reviewing reports.
