Board recognizes SkillsUSA gold medalist; residents raise concerns about middle-school band

The Marysville Board opened its informational meeting with recognition of student achievement. Superintendent Tracie Eschenburg and the Board recognized Michael Carrier for earning Gold in Metal Machining: CNC 5-Axis Milling at the State SkillsUSA competition in April; McCarrier represented SCC RESA and Marysville.
The Board also acknowledged Mr. George and the Quiz Bowl team for their season accomplishments. Later in the meeting, during the citizens portion, President Dave Schmorrow read the Board's citizen-comment policy, which notes in part: "By policy, the Board limits the citizen's comment portion of the meeting to 30 minutes and limits any one speaker to 5 minutes." Two residents, Melissa Vogel and Lilly Vogel, "shared their thoughts regarding band at the Marysville Middle School," according to the meeting record. The informational meeting did not produce a formal response or action on the band remarks; issues raised will follow regular administrative channels where appropriate.
