Board highlights kindergarten gains; trustee asks staff to confirm data source
Summary
Trustees noted kindergarten proficiency rising from about 20% to roughly 70% by the end of the year, attributed to district initiatives; a board member asked staff to confirm the data source (likely i-Ready) and provide a breakdown by preschool participation to help replicate success.

A board member praised what appeared to be strong gains in kindergarten assessment results and asked staff to confirm the data source and provide more detail so successful practices can be replicated in upper grades.
"It looks like when our kindergartens came in, they were 20% proficient and when they went out, there were 70%," the trustee said, asking whether those were internal i-Ready scores and requesting a split between children who attended preschool and those who did not. Trustees asked staff to follow up and provide the requested analysis at a future meeting.
